Frequently asked questions
What is a "successful authentication"?
An authentication where the user completed the full flow (QR scan, CAN + PIN, card tap) and the server issued a valid OIDC token. Abandoned or failed sessions are not charged.
Can I test before paying?
Yes. The product requires a real CEI card — there is no simulator. Sign in with your own ID card at dashboard.eidkit.ro and you'll immediately receive a client ID + redirect URI. You can fully test the OIDC flow in production before contacting us for a paid plan.
Do I need a special contract with MAI?
No. EidKit reads the CEI chip using the public ICAO 9303 and BSI TR-03110 standards. No special approval from MAI is required.
Is it GDPR compliant?
Yes. The EidKit server is stateless — we store no identity or biometric data. Data is extracted from the chip, cryptographically verified, and transmitted as OIDC claims directly to your app.
What law governs the electronic signature in the CEI?
Law 214/2024 gives the CEI's advanced electronic signature (issued by MAI) legal equivalence to a handwritten signature for ad probationem documents in the private sector.
Ready to integrate ID card authentication?
